[G4] Driver update problems

Hold down the shift key while starting up to boot into Safe Mode;  
you'll know it's working when you see the startup screen with progress  
indicator also showing "Safe Boot".  Be patient... it's a lot slower  
than a normal startup.  Once you're booted, you can go ahead and  
remove those drivers.

Personally, I never use install CD's to install drivers... they're  
almost always outdated by the time the product leaves the store.  Go  
directly to the manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers  
from there.  Here's the link:
