I upgraded a very early model AGP G4 to an ATI 9800 and a 1.2 processor, and 
the power supply could handle it. The newer processors may actually use less 
power in some cases, but if you are running extra drives and add-in cards, 
having extra power would be nice. One's options are not to easy on that 
account however...

MacPro online replacement AGP G4 237 watt power supply for $97 (and you can 
get them cheaper on ebay)

 An article from Accelerate your Mac that discusses pin out issues between 
the original AGP g4s power supply and the more common (and cheaper) ATX 
power supplies. The ATX power supplies will fit, but matching the pins takes 
some work I did see once that you could buy an adaptor to ease this process, 
but I didn't go this route personally.
