[G4] numeric keypad not working

For What It's Worth, here's my 2 cents.  Dual 1000GHz MDD G4 running  
OS X 10.4.11, Apple Pro Keyboard - I cannot turn my numeric keypad  
off.  It works in appleworks and mail.  I have not tried any other  
apps.   I HAVE explored ways to disable it and cannot find any.  It  
just works.

NOTES:  I did some more research.

1.  "Numb Lock Found   shift and clear, no light to indicate, open an  
excel document and it will display at the bottom."  (I have not  
verified this)

2.  Universal Access  -  Mouse  -  Mouse Keys  On & Off radio  
buttons.  Good luck
