A GREAT decision.
As for your problem, first of all, updates from 10.2.2 to 10.2.8 are 
free.
You should download from the Apple web site  (apple.com   then click 
Support
and Downloads) the software for the update (choose a "Combo") and 
install the
update.  There is a good chance that your problem will disappear.
