Sure, as soon as I understand what you're looking at. :-) I need more reference? The AirPort Menu in the Menu Bar only shows active networks so that can't be what you're looking at. AirPort on Internet Connect only shows active network also, so that's not it. Are you looking at the Network Preferences panel? You're also on Panther (10.3) so things are a little bit different than Tiger (10.4). If I have some more reference, I should be able to help. ...Duane From jamiekg at wizardling.geek.nz Wed Sep 6 21:17:33 2006 From: jamiekg at wizardling.geek.nz (Jamie Kahn Genet) Date: Wed Sep 6 21:17:51 2006 Subject: [HM] How do you delete a network? The first one was 2 weeks after warranty and Epson sent me a used one. I have had this one for 10 months. This was not a cheap printer --- $297. Epson invites me to buy another printer at their "loyalty" rate. I have a few misgivings and would welcome your opinions. 1. Do any of you have an Epson All-in-One with an LED screen? Which model? Does it have an LED screen? Have you had any problems with it? How is the scanning and photo printing? 2. Epson or HP??????? I have been loyal to Epson since it is an Oregon company and I live in a Portland suburb. But it may be time to switch. 3. Yes, Stylus CX5300, has a small LED display. About 2 years old. Have had the ink pump replaced. Scanning and photo printing are excellent. > 2. Epson or HP??????? I have been loyal to Epson since it is an Oregon company > and I live in a Portland suburb. But it may be time to switch. Depends on what your priorities are. For me as an artist light fastness of inks is crucial, and since Epson appears to be the one company that invests a lot in this area, they are the only choice for me. However I have also found their printers to be sturdy and long lasting. In addition to the 3 in 1 also have a photo 1200 A3 which is about 7 years or more old. It has required a print head replaced but apart from that is going strong. The ink light fastness is not as good as the CX5300 but the actual print quality is higher. > 3. If you have an All-in-One, what is it and would you recommend buying it? Epson CX5300 Have found it surprisingly good considering the compromise nature of a 3 in 1 and would happily recommend it. When I bought mine I asked was it any good and the sales person showed me through the office door, and there was their own office printer - a CX5300. I figured that was a good enough recommendation for me. I have not been sorry. Epson support over the phone has been excellent, and their technicians seem to be well trained and competent. Turn off "Crop Slides to fit on screen". Note that it says crop, not stretch. It's increasing the size of the slide so that it fits both across and up and down. That means it'll cut off (crop) on or the other depending on the orientation of the slide, unless the dimensions of the slide are an exact multiple of the screen. Silly option, not useful. ...Duane From janesprando at comcast.net Thu Sep 21 15:28:22 2006 From: janesprando at comcast.net (janesprando@comcast.net) Date: Thu Sep 21 15:28:29 2006 Subject: [HM] making a slide show or sreen saver Message-ID: <092120062228.15145.45131206000C335C00003B292200735834010B020E9D9F9C0A020E06@comcast.net> -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: "Duane Murphy" > --- At Thu, 21 Sep 2006 17:05:01 +0000, janesprando@comcast.net wrote: > > >I am trying to create a slide show of my own pictures to use as a screen > >saver. > > > >Tech info: G4 iMac, 10.3.9 > > > >What I did: > >1. made a copy of the pictures that I wanted ot be in the slide show; > rotated and cropped them > >2. opened System Preferences/Desk & Screen Saver/Screen Saver/Pictures > Folder and selected my folder. > >3. One is the boot drive, and it has a single volume. My hope is to do a mirror RAID setup so that the second drive always mirrors the first. When I try to follow the instructions in 10.4.8 help I get to the point where I'm supposed to click 'create' but it is greyed out. So I thought maybe I need to format the second drive first. I want to format it identical to the boot drive, but when I click on the boot drive, then the 'partition' tab, under Volume Scheme it says Current. But when I do the same for the second drive, setting Volume Scheme to Current, everything else is greyed out, I can't type the volume name or format or size. The stuff gets ungreyed if, under Volume Scheme I click on 1 partition, but then I'm not doing it exactly like the boot drive. Can anyone explain to me what the terms "Current" and "1 Partition" mean in this context? Current is exactly what it says. It's just whatever the current partition is for the drive that is selected. It's not useful to think about it in terms of something that can be applied to another drive, because current is about just the selected drive. Chances are there is only one partition on your boot drive. You can find out the sizes by clicking in the partition. Then you can press tab to go through the other partitions. There maybe small unused space that can't be clicked in that tabbing with show to you. By the way RAID will simply use the smallest size of the two partitions when you create the RAID. So as long as the second drive is formatted at least the same size as the first you'll be good. ...Duane
