VCD stalls between tracks

A friend game me some mpegs to create a VCD. Since use a mac I had to run
them through VCD Gear to make the 'toast-ready' (otherwise Toast would
not recognize them). I then chose create VCD & dragged the mpegs to the
Toast window & burned. all went well - but it does not advance from one
track to the next except manually. Can anyone tell me why this is or how
to avoid it? When I use "my own" mpegs this does not happen. All tips
appreciated!
