Photographs with narrative

I've been asked to compile about a hundred photographs  (B&W, nearly a 
hundred years old, Indian Railways) together with a narrative (notes 
made at the time) into a CD or DVD.

I guess the easiest way to do this is to use iMovie3 and then transfer 
to DVD.

Does anyone have any additional/alternative guidance?
