Interesting, mine doesn't work that way at all.  I'm looking at an 8 
minute clip, and the play head is advancing about 11 or 12 frames at a 
time. The head is not advancing smoothly with occasional text updates, 
it pulses each time the counter is updated. If I zoom all the way in, 
the play head still advances 11 or 12 frames at a time, and makes huge 
leaps as it moves across.

I tried playing my movie a bunch of times watching the "pause" points, 
and it stops at the same frames nearly every time, but not always, so 
it must be some kind of "real time" thing, not just a simple algorithm 
that updates the display every n frames.
