Empty files when exporting in iMovie3

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this.

I generally export movies from iMovie to an external drive. However, 
since upgrading to iMovie3, I also get a Zero KB file with the same 
name and a .mov extension in my ~/Movies/ folder. I know some exports 
make use of a kind of scratch file, but this stays around even after 
the export is complete. So far it does this with any of the "Expert" 
exports I've done (anything from MP4 to Toast VCD).
