I have both cameras. I wrote the original review of the VX-1000 for 
Digital Video Magazine. Sony licenses Canon optical image stabilization 
technology. Sony has NEVER used electronic image stabilization in any 
of their cameras EVER. I am willing to bet anyone on this list $1,000 
this is true.
