And they could just keep a suite of every model of MacOS box, and test 
the monitor against all the software and hardware combinations in order 
to make an authoritative claim about which features half-way work under 
which OS and hardware, and build that cost into the product.

Or they could say "Requires OS X" (in other words, make no claims about 
compatibility with the dead OS since they know it doesn't work 100% 
right) and announce a monitor price cut.
