You cannot export an image of a DVD from iDVD, you have to burn it to a 
DVD and then copy the image using Toast.  This image can the be burned 
even with the current version of Toast.  This is a nice feature for 
burning multiple copies since it is somewhat faster than iDVD.
If you know of a way of exporting the authored DVD without burning it 
there would be a lot of people eager to learn your technique.  More 
than one person have bought new computers just so they could use iDVD 
which is why Apple makes these seemingly easy things difficult.
