GeeThree Slick Volume #4 Question

Does anyone here use GeeThree's Slick Volume #4 with iMovie3?  We ran the
Volume #4 
updater (v. 1.1) and tried using the Mattetastic effect on an iMovie 3.03
project and could not 
get an animated gif to animate over a still clip.  The first frame of the
gif appears on the clip, 
but no movement at all.  The info on the Vol. 4 updater said it would now
allow animated gifs 
to be imported, but no dice for me.
