Again I don't use autosave but I set the UNDO real high like 20 or 
thirty undos.
Saving can be tricky and I don't do it right but on OSX it RARELY locks 
up. I mean rarely!.
I render frequently mixdown audio a couple times per project, and the 
real key to FCP is that there are at leat 4 ways to do everything,
