QT Player reports wrong MPEG resolutions

Why does QuickTime Player 6 report MPEG2 files' resolutions wrong via 
its Window/Show Movie Info?

MPEG Info X (mpgtx as its engine) shows them correct.

For example:

352x288 is shown as 320x240
352x576 is shown as 320x240
480x576 is shown as 480x360
720x576 is shown as 720x540

Is there a pattern here? The last figures are 4:3 and 480 and 720 
horizontal resolutions are correct but why is the horizontal 
resolution 352 shown as 320??
