iMovie 3.0.2 control of Canon Dv's?

I'm noticing some abnormalities with iMovie 3.0.2 and my Canon Elura 
(original model). While viewing in "play" mode, I am unable to fast 
forward view. Clicking the fast forward while in play, stops the play 
on the camera. I can rewind view, however.

Also, the time code and date info are missing while in play mode. 
Didn't have any of these problems with iMovie 2.

Any comments would be appreciated.
