Actually headphone jacks are close to speaker level because that is what is in the earpieces - little speakers. If you do use headphone output or speaker output, use attenuating cables inbetween that and your iMic. That will know the level down low enough to be safe for the receiving electronics.

Hi Jim,   Yes, albums, tapes even radio. Just remember
never come out of your amp through your speaker
connections. Very bad. Make sure it is always line
level that goes in to the iMic. Another option that
works is to get a 1/4" male to 1/8" male stereo cord
and come right out of your headphone jack on the front
of any of your components. Headphone jacks are really
close to line level and you can even control the
volume.
