A little while ago I posted to this list exactly that.  I record DVD+R
and DVD+RW on a Philips DVDR890 and my iMAC G4 800 reads both formats
without difficulty.  Also discs burned in DVD-R play OK on the Philips.

Is there more you want to ask?
