[MacDV] DVD-R as archive?

Tape degrades over time.
Hard drives can crash and loose part of your data. (use multiple HDs
and store one offsite)
DVD-Rs only hold 4.7 GB, so you can store about 21min of DV on a DVD-R.

With that said I would not burn to DVD until you have edited due to
space limitations (23GB blue laser DVD burners will be nice in a few
years)

>Would archiving them to mini-DV be the 1st choice of this list?

I wouldn't call it "archiving" but for your transistion period it
would be fine. Your other and more expensive option would be to
backup on 2 hard drives (differnet mfgs). This way you would be
digitized and ready to edit too.

Sounds like your best option might be to just start editing! ;-)
