iMovie / iDVD pixelation & noise

I wonder if the noise issue could be caused by iMovie rendering out 
with the DV codec. Then this 5:1 compression is being compressed yet 
again with iDVD using its limited presets.

What if you rendered the iMovie out using the animation codec (no 
compression), then took it into iDVD? Is that possible? Of course, your 
movie file would be at least 5 times larger then it is now.
