A message I sent a friend regarding this whole SuperDrive DVR-104 mess

I agree with you. It is a tough call. A new system even the $1499.00 
iMac/SuperDrive is still quite an investment. You do however, have peace of 
mind knowing it will work. A guy no the Mac-DV List has a G4/500 processor 
upgrade and uses his AO5 drive just fine. He says he knws people with a Blue 
and White G3 who burn DVD/CD's with the stock G3 chip -- so who knows...

My diea of going with the G4 ZIFF upgrade is with the hopes of using that 
SuperDrive update. I am also going ot replacemy internal hard drive as I 
think there is data corruption on there. Who knows if I'll ever get it 
resolved. It jsut means I'll be limited to submitting to film festivals on 
miniDV (not many that do). Being able to do DVD authouring thoug hwould be 
nice. If you do come across new information please pass it my way.
