iMovie, FCE, FCP quality

Hi,

Just getting into home movies and one question has been troubling me 
before going too far along the iMovie path.

Is there any difference in basic video or audio quality of a DVD 
produced by iMovie and iDVD and one made using FCE/FCP and DVD Studio 
Pro (different encoders, renderers etc) ?
I'm not worried about all the special effects, transitions, titling, 
just the bear-bones quality.
