This is what my friend Nate wrote to me and I agree with him.
"Yeah, I saw that. It's brilliant. But I haven't seen much commentary
on what I think is the real motive here. Jobs LEARNED from his
mistake the first time around. Doesn't anyone else see what he's
doing--pushing iTunes is an "operating system" for digital music. He's
doing what he failed to do in 1984, and what made Microsoft so
huge--license the software, make everyone use yours, and don't worry
about the hardware so much...
Next step should be putting iPhoto and GarageBand"
