FCE 1.0 and G3 iMac

FCE 1 runs on my 466MHz G3 iBook, but I haven't really used it 
unfortunately because I can't get it to capture without dropping a 
ridiculous amount of frames.  This is both when capturing to the 
internal 10GB HD or my external FW 100GB 7200RPM HD from my Canon ZR10. 
  I'm beginning to wonder if it's something wrong with my system, as I 
can't capture in iMovie without noticeable dropped frames either.
