Yeah, I've had varying results with different brand media (as far as 
burn speeds go).  I was getting Imation DVD-Rs that would burn at 2x, 
then the packaging changed and they would only burn at 1x...  Wha???

Now I use Maxell DVD-Rs, and they consistently burn at 2x -- they also 
state SPECIFICALLY on the packaging that they burn at 2x...  So I'd 
recommend Maxells, or maybe just some discs that SPECIFICALLY say "2x" 
on the packaging?
