Capturing DV Right To mac

Yes, attach the camcorder via FW to the Mac and launch iMovie. Put 
the camcorder to Rec mode so what goes through its lens should also 
appear in iMovie.

Another option is to use BTV Pro to capture DV to the Mac. With BTV 
Pro you can also do timelapse effects. (BTW, it is also possible to 
do timelapse via BTV Pro by playing a tape on the camcorder and 
feeding it to BTV Pro).

AFAIR you can take the tape out so there is no wear 'n tear to the 
camcorder. Remember to disable the camcorder's "Demo mode" so the 
demo effects don't start to run after 10 minutes.

BTW, is there any limit how long the camcorder stays on? I have only 
briefly tried this and once the camcorder shut down after twenty 
minutes (I once ran out of battery but AFAIR this time there was 
still power left). It was running on a battery so maybe using a wall 
outlet for power lets you keep the camcorder on indefinetely?
