If you can play back your DV tapes onto a standard TV, then your camcorder can convert digital to analog. That doesn't guarantee "pass-through" conversion of a digital signal from your computer into an analog signal for a TV. Some camcorders shut off the analog outputs, when the digital input is active. So check carefully that you will get the options that you need. I use the Canopus AVDC-300 converter, and like it much better than the camcorder conversions. When using Canon camcorders to convert analog video to DV, I noticed the loss of sound sync that many have commented on.
