[MacDV] ADVC 110 and music?

I need pictures.
Okay, so whatever has an RCA output can go into the ADVC-100. From
there it goes into the computer. How? Via Firewire, USB...?
That would take a phonograph, into a pre-amp I suspect, thence into
the converter...and into the computer. No special card needed? Just
the converter.
Same with a cassette player. RCA out, into the converter...into the computer?
And for a VHS machine. Yellow video and Red and White audios...into
the converter...then into the converter, etc?
Am I correct so far?

May I look at it another way? Can I also use my DSR-11. Would it be
best to use it to record to DV tapes...or merely pass through to the
Firewire port, thence into the computer?
I appreciate your feedback all!
