[MacDV] disk utility quits

My next step would be to use DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro to rebuild
the disk's directory. If you don't have access to one of those, you
could try restarting the Mac and holding down the Shift key as it
reboots. This invokes the "safe boot" mode, which I believe also
forces the Mac to run its disk check/repair program during startup.
