[MacDV] widescreen tv/imovie/idvd issue

I made a short HD Widescreen movie using iMovie HD 6.03 and burned to  
dvd using iDVD 6.04, using an Apple menu theme.  It looked great on  
my Apple 20 inch monitor using the native dvd player (G5 Dual running  
Tiger). The Quicktime version (for upload to YouTube) looked fine (no  
cropping) and on YouTube, in HIgh Quality, the movie was perfect.

When I play the dvd on my widescreen plasma, even adjusting for  
widescreen mode with the tv's settings, it is cropped (and slightly  
compressed) horizontally.

Any thoughts on this issue? I've seen some threads, but no solutions.
