Hi,

I am doing my best to get this video project completed by March 19.
It is a comedy of errors. I can only laugh. You have been kind with the help
thus far regarding miniDV capture cameras, cables, etc.

NOW...believe it or not, after using Premiere 5.1 for the stills part of the documentary,
I am using Final Cut Express 2.0.2 for the Video...don't ask why...it's crazy...things just
don't work right around here and I have to mix and match.

QUESTION: How do I get the transitions...particulary "cross dissolve" ...to work right?
I have 2 clips butted against each other...end of one, beginning of other.
I drag and drop the "cross dissolve" to that point and nothing appears.
The little silver boxy trapezoidy shape is not there. That is what the trasitions look like.
Command T does not work...it keeps giving the message "insufficient content for edit"
Well... I take that to mean that the 2 clips do not over lap...right...
well, fine...how the heck do I get them to overlap when they are on the same track?
I expected to drag the transitions itself to the right and left
and cause IT to overlap the 2 clips.

I have followed the Help menu, gone online to look for help and there is
no answer, so far, to this easy question.
Again, I've been doing video for 15 yrs or more with Premiere...
where clips are on separate track, by the way...
I really do know all the basic principles of how to do this.

Any helpers out there. Please!!!! :-)

Thank you sooo much. I can talk by phone too. 202.270.8445 cell
