I have everything running well with the exception of Sticky keys (with key reassignment through installed tools). I get teh weekly column, bt must not read his blog often enough. Let me know how you like it if you get it up and running. It is a perfect solution for me. :-) Valerie On Mar 5, 2007, at 3:17 AM, Spidra Webster wrote: On Mar 4, 2007, at 11:38 PM, Valerie Maples wrote: > I usually read Pogue's weekly column and I must have missed him > saying DNS *wouldn't* run in Parallels. Here's where Pogue said it: http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/ 2006/06/23/23pogues-posts/ I'm glad that you and others have said that you're successfully running DNS via Parallels. If I can get it running on mine, I can give my Dell to a disabled friend. I hate PCs and I hardly used it at all. I just had it around in case things got so bad that I *had* to run DNS. I guess since I got this it has been quiet, but since I am having no problems with DNS in Parallels and have plateaued in iListen, I rarely have questions or problems. Sometimes I will speak > part of the text - and also keep my hands on the keyboard for things like - > 'period' and 'comma' and new paragraph etc... I my case it doesn't matter. I have no limitations using a keyboard and can type more or less the same rate that I can speak. The voice thing looked interesting, I tried it out, I said "never mind." Keyboards make it fast and easy to do on-the-fly corrections, and work in every mode in every application. At the moment, they just can't be beat. And in some sense, that's pretty sad. If find it a bit ironic that in 60+ years of computing history, nearly everything has changed except the main input device... most computer interaction is still channeled through some 100+ basic on/off switches that we bang against, trying to express our thoughts and desires unto the electronic realm. -j -- Jay A.
