 here is what I have to do consistently:
 
-  Speak into the SpeakPad application
-  occasionally save the file
-  when it comes back -  speech is turned off -  pressing F8 will not
reactivate the voice module.

- The trick I have found is I keep a blank tex-edit ( other applications may
work also) document open the whole time.  So, after saving - I press F8 -
then I click on the open tex-edit document -  possibly say some gibberish -
then I return to SpeakPad and it is working again.  This process of course
is cumbersome (hey - why don't I just go get iListen?) -  but it does work
95 percent of the time.


- Sometimes, I wish to stop the voice Center - so I will open the activity
Monitor application -  and manually quit the voice Center process.
