All:

Regarding technical support for Dragon Dictate, Nuance relies on external resources such as their vast network of VARs or companies like The Emergent Institute (www.theemergentinstitute.org) to do the heavy lifting when it comes to technical support. We could argue the merits of this approach for a long time, but one thing is certain: speech recognition requires a certain amount of dedication from the one using it. As the technology is so personal in nature (tailoring itself to the unique attributes of each individual's voice), one-on-one training is probably the best way to go for most people who are having difficulty. By not offering such support themselves, Nuance avoids the high cost of employing and training qualified support specialists, as well as the (at least partially) undeserved criticism for charging for it that would ensue. This allows them to keep their products priced reasonably (which I realize is also a subjective term and something with which some people would disagree).

Suffice it to say there are resources available outside of Nuance to help you get up and running with MacSpeech Dictate, albeit those options are not free.
