Are you going to just use it to connect to a network to increase the speed
of file transfers between computers?  Both have to be "g"
Your D-Link router will work fine with your original airport card "b" in
your book.  
For the internet, you will not see any difference as most connections are
56k to 3MB in speed and the original airport is 11MB so even with the "b"
you do not use anywhere near it's capacity.
