Thank you Colin.
Soft records at 1 X, but as a audio hobbiest that's only the
start, Audiohijack has many functions and uses. Wish I'd
known of this shareware earlier. 
Soft will only work in OS X. It now rest in my Dock, between
DVDBackup and Toast 5.2.
