Whether this is needed or not, I have set up in three partitions. 1st - OS9 The reason is that if OSX becomes buggered, the computer will default to the 1st partition. Additionally, I can hold down the 'D' key on startup, and have it boot from this partition. No need to use the Startup Disk control panel. BTW, All I have on this disk is OS9 and needed disk utilities. Disk size 1 GB 2nd - Swapfile This is my disk of unix 'Virtual Memory'. This gives me a dedicated place for this file. Disk size 350 MB. Each swapfile is 80MB. This allows for 4. (this is slight overkill - you will rarely need more than 1) This seems to have improved performances. Check out: http://www.ResExcellence.com/hack_html_01/09-14.01.html 3rd. Everything Else - OSX, another OS9 (stripped down for Classic), All OS9 applications. Whether you do it this way or not, I don't know. I often have to boot into OS9 for music/Midi app. This makes it a breeze. Want more speed. Pack as much memory in there as you can. 512 Minimum!
