Volume boost?

I recall reading an article somewhere that told the tale of being able to
boost the volume of a Ti beyond the measly default one by using a modifier
key in conjunction with the F5/Volume-Up key.  None of the combinations I
tried seem to work and this capability doesn't seem to be documented
anywhere else that I can find.

Anyone got any ideas?
