Go to Apple System Profiler under the Utilities menu. If your 
Superdrive is listed as a Matshita on the Devices and Volumes tab 
(click the arrow next to the box that says CD-RW/DVD-R then no it does 
NOT support DVD-RW. My new 12" PB has the Matshita Superdrive and after 
long calls with tech support, engineering finally agreed that this 
model does NOT support DVD-RW blank media.

Please note, that the Superdrives in the towers are based on a Pioneer 
model that does support DVD-RW (hence the Apple Technical Article that 
DVD-RW might work).
