[Ti] weird word pronunciation (seriously OT)

grammar and pronunciation of languages tend to get simplified and 
lazy over time.

lemme "axe" you a question: when's the last time you declined a noun 
in english (you can't deal with latin (7 cases ?) or ancient greek (9 
cases ?) without it. <shudder> bad memories -- dative, accusative, 
generative, etc. case anyone?)

and don't forget about the Great Vowel Shift of the English language 
during 15-18th centuries.
