Install doesn't run?

I tried to install Quicktime 6.2 and ITunes 4 from downloaded disk 
images just now.  The downloads were fine, the images checksum and 
mount OK, but Installer hangs just after launch.  Console shows some 
error messages each time:

2003-04-28 21:59:48.652 Installer[3304] Setting package as non OSInstall
2003-04-28 21:59:49.530 Installer[3304] *** -[NSPackageController 
setRunLoopModes:]: selector not recognized
2003-04-28 21:59:49.564 Installer[3304] *** -[NSPackageController 
setRunLoopModes:]: selector not recognized

This is the first time I've used Installer in a long time, perhaps 
since installing Jaguar.  10.2.5 was installed via Software Update.

Has anybody seen this, and does anybody have any suggestions?

Installer claims to be "1.2 (V159)". Is that the version that others 
have in MacOS 10.2.5?
