Maybe you have the Screen preferences (don't know the exact frase in
your American system) set to two screens (Screen doubling) so that your
Tibook believes there is another screen available?

I can actually repeat your findings slipping an empty Text Editor
window outside the Tibooks window. I got a reachable tiny slice
available again by using Exposé (F9), chooce the miniwindow and say I
wanted to save it. When cancelling the Save choice the window appeared
just on the border of the screen and could be pulled back on to the
center of the screen.

This could be useful if you want to showel away some windows and then
recover them with F9, but preferably a tiny slice of the window should
be available all the time, so you don't have to go via the Save menu.
