The idea of encryption sounds good. For a long time, I have kept all my passwords and codes and PIN cdes and PUK codes etc in a locked Excel spreadsheet. I tried Filevault, now that I am using 10.3.2. BUT Retrospect (my backup software) did not seem to cope with the File Vault. This meant that all my key files were encrypted, but not backed up. So I decided to turn File Vault off. Backup is more important to me than encryption of all my files. It is unfortunate that the imnplementation of FileVault does not allow (as far as I know) the user to define the section of the disk to be encrypted. It is fixed as the user "home". We do not all want to follow this way of managing our files. So for me, the Powerbook screensaver password, plus my locked Excel spreadsheet, provides the level of security I need, taking in to account the primary need for backup. regards, Trevor
