Does it have a fan? If so what's the noise like?

Wilson,

Yes, it's been a major disappointment on both my PBs.  However, as long 
as you've got backups (of iMovie 2.x and of your own iMovies), I 
wouldn't necessarily discourage you to not try iMovie 3.  While there 
are many people who've reported problems, there are others who seem 
very pleased with the new version.  And, from my reading on various 
message boards, it does _not_ seem that the problems are 
machine-specific.
