The acquisition of VPC is geared to help Msoft gain more control in the
enterprise space and combat Sun, Linux, and other competition for the
server market.

In reality, Apple is not a company that Msoft is too concerned with.  If
they wanted to kill Apple, it would be much easier to close the internal
Apple development teams and quit offering Office and IE for Mac.  That
would kill many of the new switchers.

Microsoft needs Apple to survive as an example of the fact Msoft is not a
monopoly.
