modem/internet connectivity in Germany

I am headed to Germany soon with my US TI500.  While I understand from 
earlier comments on this list that my power should be easily taken care 
of with a simple adapter, I am concerned about modem usage.  I will be 
in a somewhat "rural" area and broadband/LAN access will probably not 
be available.

Will the built-in modem in my TI500 work in Germany?  If not, can I get 
some type of dial up modem that would be pcmcia or usb based in Europe 
that would work?
