I think that there are two speeds. I noticed the ones that Apple ships are 4800RPM drives. The aftermarket one I bought about a year ago was a Travelstar 60GH which is 5400RPM. Maybe Apple is not using Travelstars these days.

I just noticed that there is an 80GN listed on the (Now Hitachi) Travelstar web page, but it is only 4200RPM. If I assume that they increased the data density by 80/60 (as opposed to adding disk area), then this this would have the same data transfer rate as a 5600 RPM 60GB drive, so maybe 4200RPM is OK.

The data sheet link gives me a 404 error, so I don't know much more about this drive. I don't know if it is real or vaporware.
