Since there doesn't seem to be a way to have the lid all the way closed 
without an external monitor plugged in, a small spacer would do the job and 
keep the keyboard from getting dusty. You can also set the screen saver to 
turn off the display in 15 min or so. Another possibility might be to get a 
VGA plug and do something to it to fool the TiBook into thinking it has an 
external monitor. Not sure what that would be though. You may only have to 
solder one or two pins together.
