I believe it's okay to move these files back without the ._files--at 
least graphic files.  I wish I could tell you off the top of my head 
what information they contain for the mac, but for graphic files, it 
should be fine as it shouldn't affect the image at all.  It'd be like 
moving a graphic file from a PC to a mac initially.
Your latter suggestion sounds okay, too.
