Wireless network

The answer to this is probably somewhere, but I'll ask it here anyway:

My Ti800 needs to get rid of the ethernet cable that's pulling the plug 
in the back, so I thought about putting a wireless card in my 
stationary windows pc.

Can this work as a software basestation? Or is that just the other way 
around?

And does it work with ANY card?
